About Doctordle

What Doctordle is, how the daily diagnosis puzzle works, and how puzzle sources are chosen.

What Doctordle Is

Doctordle is a daily medical diagnosis puzzle for curious readers. Each puzzle presents a fictional, simplified clinical pattern one clue at a time. Your goal is to infer the likely diagnosis before the six-clue limit.

The game is built for educational entertainment. It rewards pattern recognition, careful reading, and curiosity about medical terms, but it is not a health service.

How The Game Works

Every puzzle follows the same format:

  • You start with one clue from a fictional case.
  • You choose a diagnosis from the answer list.
  • A wrong guess or skipped turn opens another clue.
  • The answer reveal includes a plain-language explanation and source link.
  • Your progress and local stats stay in your browser.

The clues are intentionally short and simplified so the puzzle can be played quickly. Real medical evaluation is more complex and depends on history, exam findings, tests, context, and clinical judgment.

Where The Puzzle Data Comes From

The current seed puzzle bank uses MedlinePlus topic pages as the main reference base. MedlinePlus is a public health information service from the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Doctordle uses those references to create original clue sets and short explanations. We do not copy full source pages, and source organizations do not endorse Doctordle.

Each puzzle stores:

  • a diagnosis answer and accepted aliases
  • six progressive clues
  • a short explanation
  • difficulty and category labels
  • a source URL and attribution note

The full current source list is available on the Sources page.

Content Review Process

Puzzle clues and explanations are drafted from public medical references, then checked against the cited source link before publication. AI assistance may be used to help turn source notes into first-draft clue wording, but the published puzzle record keeps the source URL, attribution, and safety boundary visible.

Doctordle does not claim clinician review for the MVP puzzle bank. If a clue or explanation appears unclear, outdated, or too close to medical advice, it should be corrected or withdrawn.

Medical Safety Boundary

Doctordle does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, triage, treatment recommendations, or emergency guidance. The cases are fictional and simplified for gameplay.

If you have symptoms or health concerns, contact a qualified healthcare professional. If you may be experiencing an emergency, contact local emergency services immediately.
