How Doctordle Works

How to play the daily medical mystery game, why no medical background is needed, and how each puzzle stays entertainment-only.

Last updated: 2026-07-02

A Daily Diagnosis Puzzle Anyone Can Play

Doctordle is a short medical mystery game for curious readers, not a clinical test. Each puzzle starts with one fictional clue. You make a guess, then unlock more clues until you solve the case or reach the six-clue limit.

You do not need a medical background. The clues are simplified, the answer list is constrained, and the reveal explains the condition in plain language after the game.

The Six-Clue Loop

Every daily puzzle follows the same pattern:

  • read the opening clue
  • choose a possible diagnosis from the answer list
  • unlock another clue after an incorrect guess
  • keep narrowing the answer through six clues
  • reveal the answer with a short explanation and source link

The goal is pattern recognition and health curiosity, not real-world diagnosis.

What Happens After The Reveal

After the answer is public, the puzzle becomes part of the Archive. Archived cases stay playable, but they also include crawlable case notes with the answer, clues, explanation, and source details.

The Conditions Covered page lists published answers only. Future answers stay hidden until their archive pages are released.

How Sources Are Used

Doctordle uses public patient-education references, primarily MedlinePlus topic pages, as source material for the MVP puzzle bank. Each puzzle stores a source name, source URL, version note, and attribution.

The clues and explanations are rewritten as original, fictional puzzle content. A source link is included for transparency and general reading, not because the source organization endorses Doctordle.

See the Sources page for the current published source list.

Safety Boundary

Doctordle is entertainment only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, triage, treatment recommendations, or emergency guidance.

If you have symptoms or health concerns, contact a qualified healthcare professional. If you may be experiencing an emergency, contact local emergency services immediately.

Read the Medical Disclaimer for the full safety boundary.
